Presentation Two - Our Progress (15th March 2011)
Here is the 2nd presentation that we did the other week. I would have added this earlier (like last week) but I forgot to do that so here it is now;

High poly model and low poly completed..
So, finally, the two versions of the Shelby Mustang GT500 (1969) model are complete......and here they are, so you can see the differences...even though there isn't much of a difference between them, to be honest.

John here, doing what John does...

Rambling...
Well not exactly. We're looking at layar -- I guess some research and stuff can be posted here.
We really need to figure out how to use it properly.
So that's what is happening now.
That's about it.
Nothing mind blowing,
but good that we keep the peace!

And here, is a screenshot of the layer creation system. I set up an account for all of us called: shutupjohn (just a bit of humor there as some of my ideas before were a bit weird).

Shelby Mustang GT500 model
So this is my first post to the blog, not to say i've only just started doing anything productive, I just forgot to add my WIP here.

I also started modelling a cow for a sting for the group but progress on it has been slow since I tried rigging it and it didn't work too well, so help with that will probably be needed.
I've been working on the car model for the project. The problem being that cars, even just the body shell, tend to be quite complicated...which isn't good when you're trying to keep the poly count low. Nevertheless, i've managed to keep it below the limit of 4000. As it stands now it is a 2006 polys...but isn't fully completed yet, although i feel it shouldn't climb much higher.
Obviously, if there is a desktop version of the AR software, the model can be higher poly and have mesh smooths and such, which will make it look better and not have so many jagged edges. I do think the low poly version (shown below) looks fine though, especially when it is on a phone.

Prototype Presentation
Just another summary of what is currently happening from me, just until we know how the AR works or, where to go etc. to learn that info. Then me and John can start posting about that area of the project when we start moving forward with it.
So, atm John is going to make a presentation outline/draft/mock up; whatever you want to call it. This should be completed by Monday and shown to the rest of us, then we can all add stuff to it ourselves and bulk it out.
The actual presentation is on Tuesday if anyone has forgot, and for that reason this weekend I plan to look into how the AR works in terms of the Lego box video we saw a few weeks back. At the least I will find that video so we can put screeshots of it in the presentation; this will give people a good idea of what we plan to do, and may even help us to explain our idea to Colin and the others so they can help us more.
I think this could be an issue we speak to the MCP about? Maybe ask if a more hands on look at the AR and how to do it as well as how to publish to our phones etc, if anything different needs to be done that is. It may just be a case of upload to web and done but atm I'm not entirely sure on this.
Wall of text done, that's my thoughts on the project as is; and also a brief (that ended up rather lengthy) summary of what is happening, just so we all know.
/edit: Forgot to mention, the car model has nearly been finished by Paul and is looking good! ;)
